Tips for Preventing Heart Diseases in women
Heart disease kills about half a million women every year, which is more than cancer, respiratory disease and Alzheimer’s disease combined. Since most risk factors for heart diseases are silent, therefore unless you have your blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checked, you may never know if they’re elevated, and if any of these is on the higher side, greater will be your risk of heart disease.
Here are some simple tips for lowering risk of a heart attack:
1. Consume lesser calories, especially the junk ones. Since more obese you are, greater is the risk of heart disease.
2. Exercise for at least 45 minutes daily. You don't need to join gym for that, 45 minutes of brisk walking is sufficient.
3. Switch to water or tender coconut water instead of colas and other sweetened beverages to quench your thirst.
4. Practice meditation or Yogic breathing technique like pranayama daily. This helps to overcome stress and reduces the risk of heart disease.
5. You may be surprised, but laughing loudly is good for your health.
6. Having regular sex is also good for your heart.
7. Get at least 8 hours of sleep daily, out of which at least 6 hours should be continuous.
8. Low levels of vitamin D can increase the risk of heart disease, so get at least 15 minutes of sunlight early in the morning everyday.
9. Quit smoking, since smoking greatly increases the risk of heart disease.
10. Reduce the amount of salt in your diet, as it elevates yoour blood pressure and hence the risk of heart disease.
